Angel Ocevedo, age 59, was arrested around 6:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 22 by Nassau County Police in Inwood.
According to detectives, a 31-year-old man called 911 to report a disturbance with a weapon on Doughty Boulevard.
The victim told police he had a verbal dispute with his roommate over money. The argument escalated and Ocevedo displayed a utility razor and demanded cash, police said.
The victim refused to comply and Ocevedo swung the razor resulting in a laceration on the victim's left hand. The victim was also punched in the face multiple times before breaking free and fleeing.
Ocevedo was arrested without incident.
Nassau County Police Ambulance responded to evaluate the victim who refused medical attention.
Ocevedo was charged with:
- Two counts of attempted robbery
- Assault
- Menacing
- Criminal possession of a weapon
He will be arraigned on Tuesday, Feb. 23, in Mineola.
